The Fuzz Academy (www.fuzzacademy.com) opened to the public on April 11, 2008. While most of the site plays out like a mix between Facebook and Neopets, a virtual pet social network, several features really make it stand out to its users: its environmental donations, adorably fat animals, and overall quirkiness.
Some of our little statistics:
- Over 49,000 registered users in less than 6 months
- 8-10 million hits per month
- The average user clicks on 119 pages each time s/he visits the site
- Each month, we donate about 10% of our earnings to an environmental charity. Donations have gone to the Nature Conservancy's Adopt-An-Acre, Plant A Billion Trees, and the World Wildlife Fund.
Some of our randomly random facts:
- The most popular name users give their cadets is "Fluffy".
- The Fuzz Academy's polar bears are frequently compared to the polar bears from the animated movie, Balto.
- The Fuzz Academy was first drawn for a pair of desktop wallpapers.
- The polar bear was the first animal introduced to the Fuzz Academy's animal lineup.
- The most popular food fed to cadets are chocolate chip cookies.
